The Incredible Endocannabinoid System

Updated: Feb 25, 2023

Pets are more like us than we thought! Studies have shown that animals share 70% of their biological and physical characteristics with humans, which is why it's not surprising that our pets also have an endocannabinoid system.

But what exactly is the endocannabinoid system? It's a network of receptors in our bodies that regulate and activate cannabinoids, which include both endocannabinoids found naturally in the body and exocannabinoids found in plants like hemp.

These receptors are activated when our pets' bodies and minds are out of balance, and they can be incredibly helpful in treating conditions like pain, inflammation, stress, and even cancer in a natural and effective way without the side effects of traditional medications.

So, is it safe to give your furry friend hemp oil? While research on hemp oil in pets is limited, there is scientific data that supports its use for a variety of ailments. However, it's important to note that dogs metabolize cannabinoids differently than humans. In dogs, hemp oil binds to receptors for a longer duration and has a long-lasting therapeutic response without toxic side effects. Studies have shown that full-spectrum hemp oil can produce immediate and prolonged therapeutic relief in animals like dogs, cats, and horses.

While clinical trials on hemp oil for pets are difficult to conduct due to restrictions, one study showed that hemp spreads throughout the body quickly and is eliminated over a period of 17 hours after initial administration.

It's important to always consult with a veterinarian before giving your pet any new substance, including hemp oil. They will be able to advise you on the appropriate dosage and any potential risks or interactions with other medications your pet may be taking.

The amazing endocannabinoid system in our pets is a unique and powerful tool in treating various health imbalances. While more research is needed, the current evidence suggests that hemp oil can be an effective and natural option for pet owners looking to relieve their furry friends of pain, stress, and disease.
